Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (T&C) are intended to regulate the relationship between the organizers and the users who decide to sign up and participate in the event Innovation Challenge Hacking the Future of HealthTech organized by Xartec Salut at UPC.


For the purposes of this Agreement, the parties agree that, when used capitalized herein, the following terms shall have the following meanings unless they are otherwise defined in this Agreement.

DEFINITIONS

The “Organizer” refers to Xartec Salut, with NIF(CIF) ESQ0818003F and address at C/ Jordi Girona, num. 31, 08034, Barcelona (Spain) and contact e-mail address xartec.salut.creb@upc.edu.


The “ Participant” refers to any User who decides to sign up accepting these T&C and participates in the event organized by the Organizer by competing in the Innovation Challenge.


The “Attendee” refers to any User who decides to sign up accepting these T&C and participates in the event organized by the Organizer in any other role that is not the role of Participant. It includes the following: Sponsor, Judge, Mentor, Organizer, Volunteer and other attendees.


The event “Hacking the Future of HealthTech” refers to the Event organized by the Organizer, which is an Innovation Challenge.

CLAUSES

​

The objective of the Innovation Challenge "Hacking the Future of Healthtech"; is to promote innovation through the ideation of new solutions to real needs that add value to the HealthTech sector, through an open innovation methodology and in a collaborative ecosystem between students, researchers, patients, companies and hospitals.
The "Hacking the Future of Healthtech"; especially aims to connect the industry with talent, in order to facilitate job opportunities.

1. Who is this event address for?
The event "Hacking the Future of Healthtech"; is aimed at all people passionate about innovation in the HealthTech field. It is particularly focused on academic talent with various profiles and backgrounds.

2. Participation rules
People over 18 years of age, researchers (junior) or undergraduates, master's and doctorate students from the R&D&I ecosystem who register according to the established deadlines may participate. For logistical reasons, the number of places available for participation will be limited to a maximum of 75 participants.

 

Participants will contribute their own technical resources for the development of their proposal: computers, mobile phones, tablets, devices, gadgets, platforms and/or technological environments, or any other software or hardware material that may be necessary in this regard.
 

If a participant cannot attend, regardless of any cause, he/she can be replaced by another with a previous notification to the organizers.

3. Registration
Enrollment could be individual or by teams of 3, 4 or 5 people. We encourage teams to be multidisciplinary. Any career is welcome. Registration for this event is completely free. Participants will be able to access a registration form in which they must include information about their profile, the institution to which they belong, contact information and interests.

4. Deadlines
Registration ends on October 1st, 2024. Innovation Challenge celebration: October 4th-6th 2024.

5. Challenges
The challenges are aligned with the technological areas, lines of research, and/or therapeutic approaches of the Xartec Salut network. Their general objective is to improve the quality of life of patients through innovative solutions to everyday problems with a futuristic approach.

6. Teams
Once the registration deadlines are closed, Organizers must form work teams of 3, 4 to 5 people per team (upon the final number of participants), ensuring that teams are multidisciplinary and have gender equity. All teams will be guided by experts with different backgrounds and experience.

7. Mentors
Mentors are encouraged to advise all participating teams in the process of solving their challenges, guiding them in decision-making and supporting in any task or doubt.

8. Judge
The selected jury will be confirmed up of representatives of the challenge’s sponsors, KOLs, health professionals, patients, technologists and professionals from any field related to health.


9. Awards
Participating teams will present their idea to the jury through a pitch. The presentation will last 5 minutes and must include details of the initial objective of the proposal, its level of achievement, its advantages and drawbacks, the technology used, as well as any other information that is considered relevant by the participants for its evaluation.


The presentation of the results will allow the jury to make a final evaluation of the ideas and select the winning teams.


The winning team will be selected by the jury based on the following scoring criteria, which add up to a total of 100 points:

 

Description - Score
_ Impact and scope of the solution - 20
_ Functionality, usefulness and usability of the solution - 20
_ Innovation, unique features that make the solution stand out - 20
_ Potential, adaptability. Is it a realistic project, it can become a business - 20
_ Pitch: good presentation, clarity and brevity. The scope and the relevance of the problem and the designed solution are understood - 20

 

Total 100 points

10. Challenge Awards

Winners will receive the prize established by each of the sponsors of the challenges. The winning teams will additionally have the possibility of winning a mentorship with relevant professionals to accelerate the idea.

11. Language of the event
Spanish, Catalan, English and will be the official languages of the event. 

​

12. Intellectual and Industrial Property
Xartec Salut does not reserve any copyright on the proposals submitted for selection and participation in the event. The authorship of the project developed by a team in the Innovation Challenge corresponds to its members, and not to Xartec Salut or the sponsoring company. Xartec Salut is not responsible for the terms of agreements, nor for any other issue related to intellectual and/or industrial property rights.


13. Reservations and limitations
The organization may expel participants who do not comply with the rules and bases of the Innovation Challenge, and likewise, any participant and/or attendee, who prevents the normal and peaceful development of the Innovation Challenge.

14. Advertising
In order to publicize the activities carried out during the event, participants expressly authorize the organizers to use their image in audiovisual media (photographs, videos, etc.). If any participant does not authorize the use of their image for the purposes indicated above, they are obliged to notify the organizers in advance.

15. Data Protection
In compliance with the provisions of Organic Law 15/1999, of December 13, on the Protection of Personal Data, and Law 34/2002, of July 11, on Services of the information society and electronic commerce and other provisions dictated in its development, the participants in the Innovation Challenge are informed that the personal data voluntarily provided in the contest registration forms, which they declare as their own, (including mobile phone and email), are incorporated into the corresponding database of the Organizers.


The participant is informed of his right of opposition, access, rectification and cancellation, regarding his personal data in the terms provided in the Law, being able to exercise this right in writing to the mail of the organizers.


The delivery of personal data in the contest registration form is optional, in the event that it is not provided, you will not be able to register as a participant.
