UPC Campus Nord, Barcelona
100% in-person Hackathon
ABOUT _
ing the Future of HealthTech is a Hackathon organized by Xartec Salut, that brings the opportunity to solve real challenges that will contribute to improve healthcare and quality of life of people through technology. Our goal is to promote disruptive innovation through the generation of new ideas under open innovation methodologies in a collaborative ecosystem between students, researchers, patients, companies and hospitals. This event is also intended to connect the talent with job opportunities from industry.
HACK_
The challenges are posed by three leading companies in the healthcare field:
Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is an autoimmune neurological disease, which causes loss of vision, pain, and other debilitating symptoms.
The efficacy of therapeutic strategies for the prevention of relapse of NMOSD is not proven yet and risk of clinical relapse persists even after long periods of remission.
Challenge: Develop an idea of software for smartglasses/smartdevice to facilitate vision by exploiting the potential of AR (Augmented Reality).
Nowadays, students show emotional and physical tiredness, mental alienation towards the academic activities and professional unsuitability and loss confidence in their own professional capabilities. There is bibliographical evidence showing the burnout affectation in students, and the lack of a timely diagnosis.
Challenge: Develop a self diagnostic tool to identify levels of burnout in youngsters and generate awareness to take action.
Children and adolescents with cancer often suffer social isolation due to prolonged hospitalizations, the absence at school for extended periods of time, and because of the physical changes as a consequence of their treatment. Social isolation is an important risk factor for physical and psychological health outcomes. There is scientific evidence that art therapy could support social connectedness in pediatric cancer patients.
Challenge: Mitigate social isolation in pediatric cancer patients/survivors through creative and art related activities fostered by technology.
